Motihari, a three-year-old child died after drowning in a semi-finished liquor drum on the banks of the Shikrahana river during the idol immersion of Saraswati Puja in Motihari, Bihar on Wednesday. The deceased child has been identified as Sujay Kumar of Sugauli police station area. The child's parents live in ward number five in Bhediyari village of Dakshin Mansingha Panchayat. The name of the father of the three-year-old child who lost his life in the accident is Lal Sahni.

After the incident, the Sugauli police station reached the spot and started investigation. Also, taking the body in their possession, they are preparing to conduct the post-mortem. However, the station in-charge is saying that there was straw in the drum. In such a situation, the question is that if there was dry grass in the drum, then where did the child drown? The child's mother told that there was liquor in the drum.

FIR will be lodged against the liquor businessman

Motihari Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat has formed an SIT under the leadership of Motihari Sadar SDPO Shikhar Chaudhary and has instructed to investigate. Also, it has been asked to submit the investigation report within 25 hours. After the investigation report comes, the liquor businessman will be identified and action will be taken against him and a case will be filed for the murder of the child. Despite complete prohibition in Bihar, smugglers are illegally supplying liquor to the people. On many occasions, people have also died due to drinking poisonous liquor.

How did the incident happen?

In Bhediyari village of East Champaran district, 200 liters of Mahua sweet solution was kept in a large drum on the banks of the Sikrahna river. After Saraswati Puja, the villagers went to this river bank to immerse the idol. During this, a three-year-old child fell into the drum and died due to drowning. Motihari Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat told through social media that according to the Sugauli police station in-charge, prima facie there was straw in the drum. There was no liquid. A few days ago, ALTF raids were also conducted in this area. The question is how did the child drown when there was straw in the drum. Motihari Superintendent of Police has taken cognizance of the incident and has directed the SDPO to investigate. He has asked to submit the investigation report within 24 hours. After the investigation report comes, a murder case will be registered against the liquor businessman. He said that negligence against liquor is going to cost the police station incharge dearly. After the immersion is over, all the police stations will be reviewed.
