DC vs RCB: RCB's seventh win
Defeated Delhi by 6 wickets
New Delhi, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 wickets in the 46th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on the back of Bhuvneshwar Kumar's lethal bowling followed by brilliant half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Krunal Pandya.
RCB, bowling first, restricted Delhi to 162 for 8 and then achieved the target in 18.3 overs for the loss of four wickets. With this win, Bangalore also avenged their defeat at home against Delhi at the start of this season.
This is Bangalore's seventh win in 10 matches. RCB now has 14 points and has reached the top spot in the points table. Delhi has suffered its third defeat in 9 matches.
Bangalore had a bad start while chasing the target of 163 runs given by Delhi and lost 3 wickets within 26 runs. This includes the wickets of Jacob Bethal (12), Devdutt Padikkal (0) and captain Rajat Patidar (6).
However, after this Virat Kohli (51) shared a 119-run partnership with Krunal Pandya (73 not out) for the fourth wicket to take Bangalore to victory. Krunal Pandya scored his first half-century in IPL since 2016. He hit 5 fours and 4 sixes in 45 balls.
Kohli also hit his sixth and third consecutive fifty of this season. Virat has also scored three consecutive half-centuries for the first time since 2016. Kohli hit four fours in 47 balls. He was dismissed in the 18th over.
Bangalore needed 17 runs to win in the last two overs and Delhi captain Akshar Patel made a big mistake here. Akshar handed over the 19th over of the innings to Mukesh Kumar instead of Mitchell Starc. As soon as Mukesh started the over, Tim David finished the match within three balls.
Earlier, on the basis of the excellent performance of their bowlers led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Royal Challengers Bangalore stopped Delhi Capitals at 162 runs for eight wickets. Bhuvneshwar took three wickets for 33 runs in four overs while Josh Hazlewood got two wickets, due to which he now has the Purple Cap with the highest 18 wickets this season.
KL Rahul, who is in form for the host Delhi Capitals, scored the highest 41 runs but played 39 balls for this and could not hit a single six. Tristan Stubbs scored 34 runs in 18 balls.
Porel returned after scoring 28 runs in 11 balls with the help of two fours and two sixes and was caught behind the wicket by Jitesh Sharma. Delhi batsmen scored 42 runs in the last three overs.
