Mexico City: 19 people are reported dead in a horrific road accident in Mexico. Local officials said that a bus crashed on the highway in the central state of Zacatecas in Mexico on Saturday. 19 people died and six others were injured in this accident. The accident happened in the morning when the bus carrying the victims collided with the rear of a tractor-trailer carrying corn. The collision was so severe that both the bus and the tractor fell into the ditch.

Initially 24 people were reported dead
Zacatecas Governor David Monreal had initially reported the death of 24 people, but the state Attorney General's Office later revised this number in a statement and said that 19 people have died while 6 people are injured. The Attorney General's Office said that it is trying to arrest the driver of the tractor-trailer. A local government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters that efforts were still underway on Saturday morning to recover some of the bodies that had fallen into the ravine after the accident.

The bus was headed to Ciudad Juarez

According to the Attorney General's Office, the bus that was involved in the accident was headed to Ciudad Juarez, a city in the state of Chihuahua on the US-Mexico border.
