Harpalpur, The sand mafia is fearlessly carrying on the business of illegal sand excavation in Kakunpura Chowki area. The police are busy earning money by extracting sand from government land and illegal excavation in the dark of night, away from the control of the Mineral Department. The surprising thing is that in the action taken so far, instead of arresting the sand mafia, the Revenue Police Administration was able to measure only how deep the mine has become due to illegal mining.
Sources said that the outpost in-charge charges Rs 3,000 per hectare from illegal sand mining in Chaparan Sarsed.
The police administration has not been able to reach the leader of this illegal business. At the same time, the Mineral Department also seems to be unsuccessful in stopping the illegal sand coming out from illegal mining in Dhasan River in Alipura Tila of the district. Sand is being extracted day and night without any fear through submarines. Neither Tilaghat nor Alipura police station is succeeding in stopping illegal transportation of sand. Due to this, the morale of people involved in illegal sand business is high.
Illegal mining going on from government land in Chaparan by ignoring the rules
Under the protection of Kakunpura outpost in-charge under Harpalpur police station area, sand is being extracted from Chaparan Sarsed by illegal mining, disregarding the rules, which is being transported day and night to Harpalpur by tractor trolley. From morning till night many tractor vehicles are engaged in transporting sand. If tractor drivers are to be believed, the outpost police is given an entry fee of Rs 3000. The Collector has imposed a ban on mining from all the sand mines in the district. Despite the ban, the business of illegal sand mining is going on in full swing in the district, which the district administration and the staff of the Mineral Department are unable to stop. Weak information system of the administration - The field staff of the district administration is deployed in every village and every panchayat. But information about illegal sand mining going on in the area does not reach the Mineral Department, Police and District Administration. By the time the district administration gets the news, the sand mafia manages to escape. Taking advantage of the weak information system, illegal trade of sand is flourishing rapidly in the district.
