The game of illegal vendors is carried out under the open protection of the officers sitting on responsible posts at Satna Junction Station. Food items are made available to passengers traveling in trains at double the price. Post sources said that the entire racket of illegal vendors is working under the supervision of the local police. The police keeps the records of every illegal vendor and on the basis of that, monthly illegal collection is done. For the police, this shady business has proved to be the biggest source of extra income. The collection of lakhs here is easily distributed among everyone. More than half a dozen contractors of Satna and Manikpur who run illegal vendors, present a lump sum bribe to the police who are on alert inside and outside the station every month. Sources said that the whole game is being managed from a high level because a large part of the maximum income from illegal vendors reaches the boss sitting in the headquarter Jabalpur. The protection of senior officials is somehow exposing the vigilant system of the railways. Hundreds of illegal vendors are roaming freely between Satna to Manikpur and Satna to Katni and the police who try to stop them are limited to taking a dip in the flowing river of extra income.

A section of law has been made by the railways to stop illegal vendors, which has to be followed by the police. But alas, this is not possible at Satna Junction station. The reverse flow of Ganga at Satna Junction regarding this serious matter related to the Commerce Department and the Police is tarnishing the image of the Jabalpur Division. The bad conditions of Satna station are raising serious questions on the role of the Senior DCM-DRM and Railway General Manager posted at the Jabalpur headquarters. Do the senior officers not know the game of illegal vendors? Are the Satna station management and the police misleading the headquarters? If the responsible people sitting on high posts know everything, then the question arises as to why no action has been taken? By making cases of 10-20 illegal vendors for show, the police is doing the work of securing the big game with full honesty. If the big railway officials themselves become spectators, then who will ensure that the railway law is followed?
