Match cancelled without result, floodlights switched off midway
Players and spectators sent out
Amid the ongoing military action between India and Pakistan, the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match being played in Dharamsala on Wednesday was cancelled due to security reasons. The IPL match was cancelled midway after air strike warnings in neighbouring Jammu and Pathankot.
The stadium lights were switched off
The Punjab team had scored 122 runs for one wicket in 10.1 overs when the lights went out but the reason was earlier said to be a 'floodlight' malfunction. The game had started late from the scheduled time due to rain. Eventually the teams and spectators were evacuated from the stadium for their safety. The beautiful ground of Dharamsala has a capacity of about 23,000 and it was about 80 percent full at the time of evacuation.
The spectators were evacuated carefully
A source in the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) told PTI, 'There was no panic among the spectators. They (spectators and players) were taken out of the stadium very carefully and safely.' After coming out of the field, fans are reacting against Pakistan.
