Warangal, Warangal MGM Hospital lacks basic amenities, patients suffer. Warangal, Telangana: The healthcare system at MGM, Warangal's largest government hospital, has been exposed. Poor patients seeking treatment are denied even basic amenities. The images from inside the hospital are horrific and shameful. According to eyewitnesses, the hospital faces a severe shortage of beds. Patients in critical condition are forced to lie on sheets spread on the floor. The hospital lacks even saline stands, forcing saline bottles to be hung on nails driven into the walls. The most heartbreaking scene is a woman wandering the ward with her young child, carrying her own saline bottle in her hand. There is no doctor to attend to her, nor is there a nurse to support her.
The ward fans are also out of order in the scorching heat. Patients' relatives are bringing table fans and hand fans from their homes. Some were even seen charging their fans in the hospital. Locals say that the government makes tall claims about the development of government hospitals, but the reality on the ground is different. MGM Hospital has doctors, but lacks resources. Patients' relatives reported having to purchase medicines and even saline from outside. The hospital is also understaffed, forcing patients to wait for hours. This chaos has caused widespread anger among the poor. People have demanded the District Collector and Health Minister to immediately visit MGM Hospital and restore basic facilities. Is this the Telangana health model? Where a mother has to carry her own saline bottle? This is the question every Warangal resident is asking today.
