'Sangam water is fit for drinking'
CM Yogi said- 'Bacteria report' is a conspiracy to defame Mahakumbh
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday that 'making false allegations or spreading fake videos against Sanatan Dharma, Maa Ganga, India or Mahakumbh' is like playing with the faith of crores of devotees. He said that the water of Sangam is not only fit for drinking but also for drinking and false propaganda is being done about it. Recently, the 'Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB)' had told the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that 'Ganga water has been found unfit for bathing at some places in Prayagraj'. According to the report, the level of 'fecal coliform bacteria' in the water was higher than the prescribed standards, which indicates the possibility of fecal infection in the water.
CPCB report called a conspiracy
Reacting to this, CM Yogi called it 'a well-planned conspiracy' and said that spreading rumors about Ganga water is wrong. He claimed that the water of Sangam is completely 'pure and safe'. CM Yogi expressed deep condolences to those who lost their lives in the 'stampede and road accidents in Maha Kumbh' on January 29. He said, 'We are with the victim families and the government will provide all possible help. But how appropriate is it to politicize this issue?' The Chief Minister said that so far 'more than 56 crore devotees have taken bath in this Maha Kumbh', and this event is giving a new height to India's 'culture, faith and traditions' in the country and abroad.
'Mahakumbh: The biggest event of faith and the world'
He said that this event is not of any 'one government or organization, but of the entire society'. The government is only playing the role of a 'servant' in this. CM Yogi took to task those who spread 'fake news and misleading claims' about Maha Kumbh and said that this Kumbh is a 'symbol of India's identity and culture'. Whatever 'propaganda is being done to defame this historic event is unfair and malicious'. He appealed to the public to 'be cautious and avoid fake news on social media'. He also said that the government is 'fully committed to make Maha Kumbh historic and memorable'.
