Second terrorist attack in the last three days

This is the second terrorist attack on workers from other states in the Kashmir Valley in the last three days. Earlier, last Friday, terrorists killed Ashok Chauhan, a resident of Bihar, in Shopian, South Kashmir.

Zadmorh is a part of the Zojila tunnel project

Zadmorh tunnel is a part of the Zojila tunnel project. Tunnels are being built under the Zojila tunnel project and one of them is the six and a half kilometer long Zadmorh tunnel. It is about 68 kilometers from Srinagar, beyond Gund and in Gagangir before Sonamarg.

With the construction of this tunnel, the route to Sonamarg, which used to remain closed in winters beyond Gund, will become an all-weather route and the journey of about an hour will be reduced to 15 minutes. This tunnel is being built by a company called APCO, but due to incomplete work, it has not been restored for traffic yet.

At the time of the attack, the workers were going to eat in the mess

According to the information received here, the camp which was attacked is near Sindh Nala below Rejan Gagangir at the western mouth of Jadmodh tunnel, at a short distance from Gund Kangan. It is being told that around 8 o'clock in the night, when the workers and officers working in the project were gathering to eat in their mess, the terrorists suddenly came to the outer part of the premises.

They started firing indiscriminately with their automatic weapons on the crowd of people present there. They fired bullets for about three to four minutes. This created chaos there. Whoever found a place, ran in that direction to save his life. During this, some workers fell on the ground after being hit by bullets and after that the terrorists fled from there.

Army personnel reached the spot after hearing the sound of bullets

After the terrorists left, the people present in the camp informed their officers and nearby security camps on the phone. Meanwhile, on hearing the gunshots, Army, CRPF and Police personnel from nearby camps also reached the spot.

Before they could reach, the terrorists had fled from there. The security forces took all the injured people to the hospital with the help of other people present in the camp. Two workers had died on the spot while another died in the hospital.

Security forces cordoned off the area

The security forces also questioned some people present on the spot and along with that, they cordoned off the entire area and launched a search operation to catch the attacking terrorists. The injured have been identified as Inder Yadav resident of Bihar, Mohan Lal resident of Kathua, Fayaz Ahmed Lone resident of Preng Kangan and Jagtar Singh resident of Kathua. One of the three workers killed is named Gurmeet Singh and he is a resident of Punjab.
