While administering the oath of Swachhata Hi Seva Abhiyan, he said that the India that Mahatma Gandhi had dreamt of did not only have political freedom, but also the imagination of a clean and developed country. Mahatma Gandhi freed Mother India by breaking the chains of slavery.
Now it is our duty to serve Mother India by removing filth. I take an oath that I myself will be conscious of cleanliness and will give time for it. I will fulfill this pledge of cleanliness by doing Shramdaan for 100 hours every year i.e. 2 hours every week. I will neither create filth nor let anyone else do so.
First of all, I will start with myself, my family, my locality, my village and my workplace. I believe that the reason why the countries of the world look clean is that the citizens there do not create filth nor allow it to happen. With this thought, I will propagate the Swachh Bharat Mission in every village and street.
The oath that I am taking today, I will make 100 other people take it too. I will try to make them devote 100 hours to cleanliness like me. I know that my one step towards cleanliness will help in making the whole country of India clean.
